Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my
campaign web site. I was elected Milwaukee County Clerk in
November 2008 and took the oath of Office as your County Clerk
on January 5, 2009.
During my campaign for County Clerk I promised
to “modernize the office and change existing policies and
procedures by embracing new ideas and efficient technologies to
improve customer service and lower property taxes.”
I would like to share with you a few of my
early accomplishments as County Clerk. I hope that you will
agree that I have kept my promise.
In less than two years I have:
-
Expanded the number of hours the County
Clerk’s office is open to the public each day in order to
serve you better
-
Expanded the County Clerk’s web site to
provide more and better information to the public
-
Helped lead the effort to implement a new
legislative workflow and citizen access system, which will
allow the public to view all county legislative activity on
the internet
-
Discontinued the antiquated process of
microfilming archival legislative files and started to scan
these documents to digital images which will be available on
the internet – a process which could save the taxpayers
$5,000 annually
-
Established a college intern program in
the County Clerk’s office to foster new ideas and provide
experience for students interested in public service
-
Reduced overtime in the County Clerk’s
office by 99.99% – saving the taxpayers nearly $10,000
This is only a small sample of the things I’ve
been able to accomplish in a relatively short period of time.
There is much more to be done and with your help, we’ll do it.
I also want to thank those of you who
supported me during my campaign for County Clerk.
It’s an honor to serve as your County Clerk.
I welcome your suggestions for improved customer service and
your ideas for tackling the challenges facing Milwaukee County.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Joe
